A Custom Home Designed Around Its Landscape

Our latest custom home project is underway in the beautiful surrounds of Eildon, Victoria, and this is one construction journey we are particularly excited to share.

Set on approximately 3.3 hectares of established native bushland, the site offers spectacular views across the surrounding ranges — but also presents many of the challenges associated with building on steep regional and acreage properties.

Before construction could begin, careful consideration was required around access, excavation, site levels and substantial cut-and-fill works. The residence is also located within a BAL-29 bushfire environment, adding another important layer to the design and construction requirements.

Rather than attempting to make a standard home fit the property, the residence has been designed around the characteristics of the site.

The floor plan incorporates four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a central kitchen, dining and living zone, alfresco area and two attic spaces, creating a home that balances comfortable everyday living with the unique opportunities offered by its rural setting.

Externally, the finished home will feature reclaimed red bricks together with Monument roofing, windows and doors. The darker architectural elements combined with character brickwork have been selected to complement the surrounding Australian bush landscape.

The transformation has already been significant.

What began as a steep and heavily vegetated site has progressed through excavation, earthworks and slab construction, with the timber frame now rapidly taking shape.
